HYDERABAD: A two-member bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday admitted a writ petition filed by one Subash Chandra who sought a detailed probe into the fake encounter deaths of Madhav and seven other naxalites in the state. The bench directed that the unidentified bodies be preserved in the district hospital mortuary at Guntur. The bench also ordered the recording of the post-mortem proceedings.
The video cassette will later be produced in the court.
While the writ petitioner sought preservation of unidentified bodies, he also asked the court to hand over the other bodies to their respective families. The bench directed the director-general of police to file his response by August 4 along with the findings of the post-mortem report. Members of the victims' families, the bench pointed out, should give their details to the police authorities. The bench further directed the state to publish the photographs of unidentified persons in local newspapers. 'Relocate polluting industries' Considering the problems arising from environmental pollution, a PIL bench of the High Court issued several directions on Tuesday. It stressed on the need to search for a concrete solution to relocate the industries which were responsible for polluting various water-bodies in the city. The bench was dealing with a suo-motu writ petition on excessive pollution of water sources in the city. The bench was informed by the Pollution Board that except eighteen industries, others were unwilling to relocate to the place identified by the government. The bench directed the industries to zero in on a committee who would negotiate with the government and choose an area where they would like to be shifted. The court also gave a strict warning that after the exercise is completed, notices will be issued for closing down the erring industries. The court placed one month calendar to complete the exercise. The bench further directed the government to negotiate with Ganesh Utsav Committee to identify an alternative immersion place in lieu of Hussain Sagar and other lakes. It may be recalled that the bench has been dealing with the pollution of Hussain Sagar. Dealing with the menace of non-biodegradable plastic bags, the bench directed that all units which manufacture the plastic bags against the norms and rules fixed by the government should be shut down.
